Since the end of October 2014, the Libraries Without Borders team has begun an impact study of the Ideas Box on education in the Bwagiriza refugee camp in Burundi.

This study, supported by the International Rescue Committee (IRC), will assess the impact of the Ideas Box on academic levels of students from two elementary school classes and two middle schools classes (average ages are 11 and 15 yrs., respectively). These 186 students have already completed placement tests in French (reading and comprehension) and in mathematics, primarily using the Khan Academy learning platform.

This study will ultimately allow us to evaluate the effectiveness of our pedagogical tools and to better respond to the specific needs of refugees.
