Libraries Without Borders was in Lyon, France earlier this week to present the Ideas Box during IFLA's 80th Congress and General Assembly. The exhibition took place from August 17-19, 2014, at the Lyon Convention Center, where the Congress was held. The LWB team was honored to inaugurate the exhibition under the patronage of Gérard Collomb, the Mayor of Lyon. The ceremony took place Sunday, August 17 at 5:30 pm.
The Ideas Box was open to the public in the Place de la Cité, an ideal place for Congress attendees and passersby to tour the exhibition and use some of the different contents included in the Box! Children and adults alike were able to discover the Ideas Box, taking some time to play games or skim through the book collection.
Since being deployed in Burundi in February 2014, the Ideas Box have demonstrated a enormous potential to provide educational tools, serve as a safe space for children and strengthen the skills of refugee populations. Encouraged by this first successful experience, LWB is currently working on new deployments throughout the world to assist the most vulnerable populations. Stay tuned for more!
